Bill 212

The word “Ontario” in black text with a stylized trillium flower logo beside it, set against a light textured background.

Please be advised that Bill 212 – Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024, received royal assent on November 25, 2024. This bill includes the Highway 413 Act, which exempts Highway 413 from the Environmental Assessment Act (EAA) and creates a new process for assessing the environmental impacts of the Highway 413 project…

Ministry of Transportation Property Acquisition

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) contacts affected property owners early in the acquisition process to explain project impacts and offer compensation based on independent appraisals of market value. Owners can conduct their own appraisals for negotiations.

Focused Analysis Area 2025

The Focused Analysis Area (FAA) prioritized refinements based on stakeholder input, environmental data, and design advancements as details on potential impacts become more evident. This finalized version reflects those refinements.

Environmental Assessment (EA) History

Highway 413 is part of Ontario’s plan to expand highways and public transit across the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH) to fight congestion, create jobs and prepare for the massive population growth expected in the next 30 years.

Time Savings

The 30-second figure is from a study done in 2017 that looked at the average time savings across the entire Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH). It includes every trip on every road in every region – including places that are nowhere near the proposed Highway 413.
